2nd "GIOVANNI VITALI" TOURNAMENT

Yesterday, on the occasion of the 2nd Tournament dedicated to Giovanni Vitali, the Councillor for Sports Training of the Municipality of Impruneta, Sabrina Merenda, left us a memory of our "Gianni" that we want to share with all of you.
"You were not just a sports manager, but an example of a glue for the whole town, someone who had created a transversal network. The one who followed the soccer school, who educated the youth sector boys, who chased the hopes of the first team, who coordinated the work of what he called "La casa Nesi," transformed by the method and passion of many volunteers into a professional club.
What characterized you, dear Giovanni, was your open-mindedness, free of prejudice, built on maintaining loyal relationships. You were never in the spotlight, but you were active on the field even when it rained, picking up the balls as if they were flowers. Great humility.
I fondly remember that phone call from you in 2018 when I was appointed councillor for sports training in our Municipality, along with other responsibilities such as education or part of Culture. You told me: 'A single line that I approve because Sport is education with our children and families.'
Thank you for supporting me at that time, to you whose eyes sparkled even when talking about women's teams, about mutual intentions.
Dear Giovanni, thanks to your high educational values, you lived Sport for children and young people as a place to include everyone, to overcome loneliness, obstacles, to achieve accomplishments and not just medals. You believed in a "field of the righteous." Sometimes life is not fair and you left us too soon, but with this tournament and many other future actions, everyone remembers you and your name and intentions will be passed on to the younger generations. The world of sport, your world, has proven to be tenacious. What a far-sighted thought you had! We always have your face before us. Now you are smiling, I know it. Today you would say, "Remember Education and Training because the humility to learn and be a family will always be the highest value of Sport." Thank you Giovanni.
